Expanding Our Doula Network
Date: 08/17/22
Trillium actively collaborates with community partners and providers to increase access to doula services throughout Oregon. Certified and registered doulas support pregnant people before, during and after delivery, and evidence shows that doula support improves maternal and infant health outcomes. Trillium includes contracted doulas in our network and also funds doula training and education with an emphasis on helping Black, Indigenous and people of color (BIPOC) and the underserved become doulas or gain access to doula services.
To date Trillium has 35 contracted doulas: 8 located in Lane County and southwest Oregon, 23 located in the Tri-County area, and 4 located in Marion County. In addition, Trillium has invested in doula training projects throughout the state, including providing $5,000 in funding to the Community Doula Alliance to support their BIPOC curriculum and $2,000 in funding to Oregon Doula Association to support their “Doula Billing Series.” Trillium has also invested almost $7,000 in scholarship funding for doula education through Daisy C.H.A.I.N. Upon completion of the program, these student doulas will become OHA-certified Traditional Health Workers who are eligible to apply for positions with Daisy C.H.A.I.N., continue to volunteer their services, or become independent doulas.
